New System lights up - Vista has loading screen then black

Any ideas what would cause that to happen?

Do I need to partitian the hard drive? or does vista do that for you - this is a fresh install and all new equipment

The Bios sees the harddrive and the CD ROm and all the Ram etc... I didn't update to the latest BIOS for my:

ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

as I was hoping to do all of that after Vista is up and running.

When I boot to CD to make Vista install it says "Windows is loading Files" and has progress bar on the bottom - then when that finishes it's just black and nothing. What should I be seeing after that screen or hearing.

  1. This was resolved by removing 2 sticks of RAM so it only has 2 slots filled with 1024.

Vista will then install fine - getting this board to work with 4 gigs is a whole other problem.
