I recently built a computer with a core 2 duo e6600 and my idling temp seems is between 42-44 and it has gotten over 50 when playin games.

Im running firefox and itunes and here are my readings:

System:41
CPU:44
AUX:122
HD0:43
Core 0: 35
Core 1:36

Can I overclock as I have a zalman fan on or should i be worried about any of these temps? Thanks for any help

What is that AUX temp? Is that 122 degrees Celcius?!? Yikes.

If that is a false reading, the rest of the temps look fine. Do you have good airflow in the case? The system temp looks a little warm, you may want to try to add some more case fans before OCing.

"Your running way to hot if your running with no overclock." I think you either don't have enough Artic silver 5 or your heatsink is not fully pressed on. My first PC build I had the same temp problem as you, so I pulled the HSF off and reapplied the AS5 making sure it coverd the IHS. I get that same AUX temp in Speed Fan of 126-c ignore it. A better HSF with drop your temps a lot, I have a Tuniq Tower 120 and my idle temps at stock speeds are 17-18c and 29c full load. My OC temps at idle 28C and full load never above 55C ,then Core temp at 65C. My overclock speaks for itself in my sig.
