Im on a budget right now and want to upgrade my prebuilt comp w/ pci ports from its intergrated to something more decent so that i can actualy play world of warcraft on it. Im considering the fx 5500 cause i can get it for like 70 on newegg, any advise on this card or a different card? im basicly looking for something so that i can run wow and some other games around 30-40s fps. if this post is stupid dont mind me i just started doing my research on graphic cards a few hours ago
ahh thanks i looked through the sticky earlier but couldnt find much on pci, and the 7300gt isnt that pure pci-e? or are my searches just coming up dry.
If you can fit $100 into your budget, I think the best PCI card is probably the X1550. I don't know if you will get the performance you want, but it is a better card than the FX5500:

I'm pretty sure the entire FX series from Nvidia was considered a bad one when it was released... and I doubt time has improved its position any. NewEgg lists 48 different PCI based video cards so you've got a pretty decent selection considering the age of the PCI bus. If you're really willing to drop nearly $100 on a PCI video card, the ATI 1550 is going to be your best bet... however, the GeForce 6200s can be had for considerably less and should play WoW fine.
"The GeForce 6200 performed exceptionally well given that it is a sub-$100 card. At 1024 x 768, its performance was quite acceptable in WoW (remember that 20 - 30 fps is a lot more playable in a slow-paced FPS). "
