Hi, my home network consists of:
1) DLink wifi router DI524UP
2) WinXp laptop with built-in wifi adapter
3) Vista laptop with built-in wifi adapter
4) WinXp laptop with Belkin USB WiFi G Adapter
When I have connection established between 1) 2) and 3) and plug USB card into 4) I get both 2) and 3) disconnected from 1) and 4) does not connect either.
After plugging the card out, connection between 1) 2) and 3) is restored in less than 30s.
My router config:
- WCN - On
- Channel - auto select
- Authentication - Shared
- WEP 128 - enabled
Does anyone have any idea what could cause such a behavior?
hmmm have you tried changing the channel the usb card uses? its in device properties (right click the connection and select status and then properties, then click configure, select advanced ad then select channel from the list.
im thinking its possible the usb is using the same channel as your router and might be slightly more powerful so that it knocks the router off the channel. move the usb channel by at least a few degrees (say from 2 to 9) and see if that makes a difference.
