Hey all, I know I may be asking alot, but this is coming from a person whose hurtin with an athlon xp 1800+ still! (student)
Anyways, I've come across a bit of money and the new drops on the Q6600 is intriguing. Thing is, I dont really need an incredible video card just yet, and my friend has agreed to sell me his 8800GTS 640mb in about 2 months for $150. I just want a cheap board that can run my Q6600 with on-board video.
If you know of any, your help will be greatly appreciated.
You can do a lot better than this on features, but for a cheap board for now, this BIOSTAR I945G-M7 V2.X LGA 775 Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard:

I've built 3 non-gamer systems with it this year, and all have been trouble free. Furthermore, since it is a micro-ATX board, you might fit it into a smaller case if your living space (student dorm?) is limited.
If you can spend a little more, I'm awaiting this Gigabyte micro-ATX board, with the G33 chipset:

Yeah, I stay in a college dorm and of course the smaller the better. I was looking at the Quad because I am a finance and statistics major so I do alot of heavy work within excel, access and spss (statistical/probabilistic modelling) so I figured the quad would be best for that. Video isnt huge because I have an x360 that I really use for gaming.
Think is I didnt want to spend much money.
Would it be better just for me to get something like the evga 650i mobo and an e4400 and just overclock the hell out of it, big performance difference?
