Ok here is my new system that i plan to build up, i need your guys opinions for anything i need that i should change or such

To clarify this systems main function is for gaming, web browsing, documents etc and overclocking as time goes by. I want a system that runs games on my Dell 24" on high settings with no probs and also something that will last at least 2 years of playing games and still play them "ok" by 2009 (hard to predict the future i know)

CPU: E6750, S775, 2.66 GHz
MB: Asus P5KC, iP35, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2/DDR3 OR Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R, iP35 Express, S 775, PCI-Ex16, DDR2/3
RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2
GPU: BFG 8800 GTS 640MB OR BFG 8800GTX
PSU: 620W Corsair HX V2 Series Modular
Case: Antec 900 - Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case
HD: 500 Gb Seagate ST3500641AS Barracuda

The rest of the bits ie: CD drive etc i have already so its not a problem.

Two Things that im mainly looking for opinions on now are:
1) Either of those motherboards, are they lesser overclockers than a more expensive DDR2 only board? Is there a better board to get?
2) At that setup and my monitor size is there any real massive point in getting a GTX over a GTS?

Any tips on the above would be great remembering the reasons why i want the comp (ie dont use for encoding or anything like that.)

Cheers guys

Lol yeah more or less the same! Can i ask why u decided to go for a DDR2 solo motherboard instead of one of the one that does both? My biggest issue with my system is i want a awesome motherboard that has upgrading potential for the memory and cpu in the future.

If you have a 24" monitor then try and get the 8800GTX in if you can.

Your motherboard choices are fine if the DDR3 slots are a big thing for you. I think most people tend not to bother as they think they'll upgrade again anyway by the time DDR3 becomes viable. AFAIK the only difference between the P35 & P35C Gigabyte boards is the DDR3 slots on the P35C; I'm pretty sure there is no performance difference.

Right now there is pretty much no performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3, yet DDR3 costs over 5x as much right now. By the time DDR3 becomes mainstream you will be looking at getting a new system. DDR2 will be around for quite awhile remaining at it's relatively cheap prices.

For 1920x1200 I'd suggest getting an 8800 GTX at the very least, preferably a MSI Ultra @$579 if you can afford one ofcourse, if not a $480 MSI 8800 GTX is fine.

Depends on the Ultra. It's worth getting a MSI 8800 Ultra clocked at 660/2300 for $579 simply because the stock GTX is clocked at 575/1800 and costs $489, and there's no way you are gonna be able to oc the memory by 500Mhz and keep it stable at same time, MSI also comes with Company of Heroes which retails for $40, so in the end you end up paying only $50 more for a card which will perform %15 faster on average, which is well worth it imo. My 2c.
