3DMark06 and 2900XT problems?

I'm wondering if anyone has had problems running 3DMark06 when they have a 2900XT. When i try to start '06 it locks up at the splash screen as in it doesn't even load up to GUI. I've left it running and it sits like that for more than 10 minutes, always taking 25% CPU and 18MB RAM. When i kill the process my desktop background gets corrupted. Lat week i also had catalyst say that it had done a video card/driver recovery.

I also had FarCry reboot my computer at one point, there was no record in the event log for this, I've run Memtest on all my ram at one time and on each stick individually. I’ve done prim95 for 4 hours with no errors.
I'm wondering if there may be a problem with my video card even though i haven't found any problems in any other games or situations.
Ideas? diagnostics for my card? similar experiences?

i'm more consered that my card maybe faulty in some way. i quite enjoyed Rainbow six: Vegas and SupCom on it but i want to get this sorted out while i can still RMA trough the store i bought from.
