I know my CPU is very low for overclock but some how i just cant get pass 1300mhz and inorder to run 1300mhz FSB i have to raise the Vcore + 0.2000 imo with 100mhz more is not worth it, so i stayed as 1280fsb anything beyong 1300 FSB i will freeze in window or not booting up. ( CPU highest Voltage increment was only 0.2500)

I tried raise the NB voltage more but it wont work either highest FSB i set to was 1.550volt ( highest is 1.570

as for memory so far thats the highest timming i got to. i might try to tight the timming more if i got more time. but this is the best i got so far.

i have the latest bio update from Foxconn for the mobo i got, and i seen people getting way higher clock then what i have. im not sure why is the voltage wont go over 1.4volt i might have to contact the support to find out why...

Settings i use are
CPU memory FSB ratio i set to manual and put in my own speed. ( i also tried other setting such like 1:1 or 5:4 or 3:2 or Sync Mode)

Vanderpool technology disable
C1E disable
Speedstep disable
Nvidia linkboost disable
hyper transport i left it at Default valune of 400 with 8 and 8 ( no idea what setting these suppose to be)
SLI memory feature i set it to expert.

My system
Q6600
OCZ SLI ready memory DDR2 1066 EPP 5-5-5-15 2T
OCZ game extreme 700Watt
Motherboard Foxconn N68S7AA-8EKRS2H

oh another weird thing is everything when I OC i get this weird Message when I boot up. and it only shows up when I OC. any idea why?

if you guys got any other suggestions please let me know I would love to get my CPU higher then 2.88ghz speed.

anyone?? no one got any suggestion on getting it to 3ghz?

i just swap out the CPU with a E6600 on my other machine to test it out. although i didnt do a long test but seems like with the same setting bio setting im hitting the wall at 3.4ghz at 1500FSB..

dose raising my South bridge will giving me more room to OC? or is it even worth it to do so for only getting 100mhz more?

im alost curious people who have Q6600 that reach 3.0ghz what voltage they use for their CPU, NB and Link Ratio?

You Should be Able To Get Some More Out It..........

dude, i gotta ask what do you actually do with your computer? hopefully, you encode a movie at least 3-4 times a week while playing a pc game lol.

he should but its a cpu lottery when ocing.

mjb1206 has a b3 and he has 3.2 :O while the guy with the g0 has 2 . something. as i said... a lottery.

also... that warning in non nerd terms ( LOL its not even nerd language at all :O ): update your drives on your motherboard.

Honestly I really don't do alot with it, just like the challenge of messing with these things........... A few games, surfing the net, and burning some CD's.

And that's the truth!!

my drivers are up to dated from Nvidia site...

well yea like what mjb said, i really dont do video editing or anything like that... but i do alot of heavy gaming... i know Quad's dont benefit from gaming much at least not yet... but is good challenge to messing around with this crap.. and for not being able reaching my goal pisses me off.

Ok, I like this thread cause I also own a Q6600. I am trying to overclock mine but I cant do it threw my motherboard in the BIOS. I have the EVGA 680i SLI board. All I was able to do is up my cpu multiplier to 9 from the stock 8. I ran my Ntune software and whenever the processor gets to 3ghz it locks up.... is there any way to get about the 2.9 Ghz rang with a Quad?

The standard is actually 9. If you cant get over 3gig then you cant get over.

Things to try:

1. Increase motherboard vcore.
2. Increase CPU Vcore.
3. Loosen Memory Timings
4. Run FSB:RAM 1:1
5. POSSIBLY increase ram voltage, although its 9% likely that you dont need too.

Gotta make sure its all there and make sure that nothing is getting in the way of getting your processor to its maximum.

i use zalman 9700 heat is not a issue here, my temps are 39-44 idle while load at 50-55.... right now the least i can do is OC the memory I have.

my OCZ SLI ready memory is running at 898 4-4-4-6 1T timing, while factory speed is 1066 5-5-5-15 2T.

I spoke to Foxconn rep today through online contact. this is what they said regarding about my mobo error message........

The message is a warning message. In order words a false positively.

You can compare standard default settings vs. overclock settings.

"Overclocking is for advanced users that understand and accept the risks involved in doing so. Below are some examples of what could happen:

· System instability
· Data corruption
· Unable to get a POST screen, after doing so.
· Life of the overall computer system is affected.

Overclocking depends on the overall equipment used in your system, results may very.

As stated previously overclocking is not supported. We recommend, “Optimized defaults”. "

and he send me a Screen shot of OC Q6600 at 2.66ghz with no error message...

pretty much he wants me to lower the clock at 2.66 inorder to get rid of that message...

what should i do guys? should i return this mobo get a new one from another brand instead? or ignore this message?

I got mine up to 3Ghz. I dont know what the temp is cause my nvidia temp thing isnt working right. I also OCed my ram from DDR2 800 to DDR21000. I have a 5.9 vista rateing.

Now that my life is complete, I think I will have to get my quad past 3.2!!!! Then it will be faster then my old P4!!!

As I was reading up in this thread, I thought to mention something. I don’t know everyone’s setup, but I found it very easy on my Mobo to OC it once I figures out how to have the settings. There is a good guide that Nvidia released for OCing on the 680i mobo. It shows you how with a extreme edition c2d, but all the settings are the same with your quad. I have the mobo auto figuring out all the settings for voltages and everything else so all I have to do is input what fsb I want for the cpu and it dose the rest.

I will look for the CPU-Z program and show you.

I don't see why you would have to return your Mobo. If it works fine, then is it broken? At the same time, if it is reading a false positive, then there is an issue. Do you have to time to send back the Mobo and wait for a new one? Also, will you get any compensation for returning your Foxcon mobo.

Sorry I can't be more help right now.

What is your vcore at? I could run my Q6600 @ 2.7, 1.24 volts. I had to up it to 1.31 volts to get to 3.0 ghz. Orthos x2 ran fine for 6 hours. Honestly if you dont know much about OCing you should read up on it more. You might have just gotten an unlucky chip but i think almost all Q6660s should be able to reach 3.0 on some voltage.

Isn't the stock Vcore 1.25? Did you lower it and still get 2.7? I have had to raise my Vcore to 1.29 just to keep 2.7 stable in orthos.
