I have 2 1 gb sticks of pny xlr8 ram 1066-5-5-5-15 and I didnt realize that to have a 1:1 ratio with teh cpus fsb you have to set it to 533. My cpu is q6600 oc to 3 ghz so it is set to 333 mghz fsb. I was wondering if I wasted my money since I currently have my ram set to have a 1:1 ratio with the cpus fsb(533 oc to 667) and timings of 3-3-3-9.

You can still overclock your memory to have it run at 1066. Use a cpu:ram ratio of 2:3 and that will oc your ram to 1066, you have to loosen the timings to 5-5-5-15 though.

basically... Yes you did

I have an overclock I did on a friends PC where I am running an E6300 @ 3.5ghz running at 500mhz FSB so the memory is running at 1000mhz set to 5-5-5-15

the memory I chose is "generic" DDR2-800

for the overclock you are running you could have bought generic DDR2-667

The ratio doesn't have to be 1:1. That is a general guideline more or less. Set your RAM to the highest divider that you can and then check the performance and leave at the one that performs the best.

You could also drop the multiplier on your cpu and run your fsb speed up to 500fsb, keep your ram at 1:1 and probably be able to run your ram at DDR2-1000 with 4-4-4-12 timings. But i'm not sure if a BadAxe2 is capable of that. Either way you didn't waste money on your ram, its right in line with the rest of your system. Getting DDR2-667 would be like putting 8" wide tires on a Dodge Viper.
