I have an ATI X850XT agp (bought it in late 2004 for $430) and i want to know is it worth it to get an X1950XT agp, X1950pro 512mb or the 7950GT agp. I know agp is becoming dead but i have spent too much money on my system and can not afford a new system build. I am looking to play Cyrsis, BF2114, World in conflict, Duke Nukem Forever (if it ever comes out)..... all very demanding games. I want to know if those cards i have metioned above can play those games at max settings in DX9 (not DX 10, i know they are not DX10 cards). I am also buying more memory. Here is what i have

Mobo: DFI Infinity 875P rev.B (not lan party version)
CPU: Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.4Ghz/800fsb 2mb L3 cache
Video Card: X850XT 256mb Agp
Hard drive: Maxtor 120gig 8mb cache 7,200rpm 9.8ms average seek time
Memory: OCZ Platinum rev.2 Dual 1 gig 2-2-2-5 (PC-3200)
Sound: onboard with EAX 2.0 5.1 channel
Network: 1000/100/10 Lan port
PSU: 500watt antec Basiq
DVD Burner: Memorex Dual layer ATA 133
DVD: Sony 16X 512k cache ATA 133
OS: Windows XP Home edition SP2
Monitor: LG L1933TR-SF 19" DVI/HDCP, Contrast 3000:1, 2ms( (just got it from best buy, could not find reviews on it though, when its on it gets really hot is that normal?)

Thanks

in that list the x1950XT would be the best AGP card in overall performance.

as for playing all the games you want to play on max settings..depends on your resolution.

for the games that havnt been released we cant really say anything at this point.

I agree with the X1950XT as the best you could probably get.
If you have 2 gig of memory, I wouldn't spend more for memory.
If it were me, I'd keep what I have for a while and try to save enough to go with a new motherboard, memory, and video card. I really wouldn't spend the cash on the X1950XT AGP solution.

I agree with jitpublisher, try to save for an upgrade. But short of that the x1950xt is a nice card. Time will tell if it will play future games...

And yes, the vents at the back upper area of any LCD will get warm with usage.

I agree with the others. Your system is fine for now, but I would stop upgrading it and start saving for a new build.

I'd get the x1950xt if you can find it for a good price. It would be a huge boost from the x850xt, and will probably play all those games very well. You won't be able to max Crysis out, but it will still play well.
