I have a Sapphire 1900XT 256MB and am thinking about going 22" widescreen with a 1680x1050 resolution. Should I forget it? I have been reading about how the low ramm on my card will cause problems with such a setup.

Hey. I'm running an x1950pro on a 22" WS monitor and it's pretty good. Some of the newer games run a little slower but I bet it's just because of the videocard itself and not the actual RAM bottlenecking.

I just picked up Lost Planet but I dont think that counts as a game. It runs terribly no matter what settings I use and what resolution. Can't break the 30fps barrier.

Bottomline is that I'm quite happy considering what I paid. And the 1900xt is a bit faster than the 1950pro is it not?

i have the same card and i game at 1680x1050. I played need for speed most wanted at that resolution and it was still playable. Barely any stuttering. I do think that you might have some trouble with newer games though.

You will probably have to run it at lower AA & AF settings.
AA & AF eat up your cards ram a lot.

I reckon you'll be pretty much alright, as the 1900XT is still a great card. Do bear in mind though that moving to a higher res LCD will look fantastic but it will also lock you into a more expensive graphics card upgrade cycle.

I game at 1680x1050 on my x1950Pro... It plays everything at decent settings, but you do have to turn down the AF and AA a bit. I say go for it!

I am still on the fence, for I have a fairly nice 19" CRT... Viewsonic G90fb. I am playing NWN2 a lot, so I need to be able to play the newer games in terms of GPU performance.
