I'm planning to purchase these parts in a month, but i'm not sure about the motherboard and ram, so i need some help.

Specs:

Intel Q6600 2.4GHz
GeForce 8800 GTS 640 Mb OC
PATRIOT 4GB (2x2GB)DDR2-800 CAS-5
***MOTHERBOARD
Antec P182 Case
Corsair 620W
2x WD 200Gb 7,200 RPM

PRICE: ~$1550

***I'm thinking one of these but i dont know which one exactly, leaning towards the IP35 Pro but still unsure.

ABIT IP35 Pro $185 ------------concerned that it only supports DDR2 800
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R $160 ------------Concerned that it may not support my RAM (see above)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R $130 ------------Concerned that it may not support my RAM (see above)

I'm not planning on buying DDR3 ram in the next couple of years, but i may upgrade to 8 gb at some point. I'm planning to mostly play games with this and some multi-tasking as well. No video encoding or anything.

Please give some advice on the PC as a whole and on the mobos.

For that much you should be able to afford a 8800 GTX at the very least,
here's what I recommend going with:

LIAN LI PC-60BPLUSII $130
Q6600 $273 (mwave.com)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R $130
4GB Crucial ballistix DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 $240
Corsair 620HX $130 (buy.com)
MSI 8800 GTX $480
500GB Samsung $110
Tuniq 120 Tower $60
MASSCOOL G751 Shin-Etsu Thermal Interface Material $5

$1558

Good luck.

The P35C-DS3R is the same as the P35-DS3R only with 2 additional DDR3 slots. Probably not worth the extra $30 in most cases (here in the UK the difference is £2, which does make it worth the extra). :p

Dior's suggestions look great, although obviously the case is largely down to personal preference and you won't go wrong with the Antec P182.

thanks,

do you recommend the Crucial ram over the patriot?

I've used corsair and patriot, but never crucial.

Also, do any of these ram (the one i picked & the one suggested) have conflicts with any of the 3 mobos?

And do i really need a cpu cooler if i'm not planning on overclocking?

Yes i'd get the Crucial ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) over Patriot, I'm not sure if it's gonna work on Abit board but it works just fine on the Ga-P35. Cooler isn't necessary if you don't overclock but it's nice to have if you change your mind :)

I would go for the Crucial over the Patriot if they're both within budget, yes.
