I am putting together a new machine, and I'm wondering if this PSU is a good choice.
Asus p5k
intel q6600
ati 2900 xt
1x raptor hard drive at 10k rmp
2x sata hard drvie
1x ide hard drive
1x sata optical drive
4x1GB ddr2 800
antec p182 case
im not a hardcore OCer but i will probably oc the cpu and gpu a little.
is it going to give me enough juice if I OC a bit? I was thinking of a 700W OCZ GameXStream, but i hear its loud and doesn't come with the 8 pin pci-e connector. the corsair is about $20 more. are there any other good PSUs in the same price range as these?
Here's a link to a calculator to see what you need for your components. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp The corsair is a fantastic psu, however it doesnt have 8 pin connectors to your gfx card, so you wont be able to overclock your 2900xt. Take a second to rethink what you're going to spend on the PSU. Take a gander at the PSU section of the forums and expecially the link to the tiered PSU list. You will likely spend 150-200 on a good solid PSU. Off the top of my head many Enermax PSU's have an 8pin PCIe plug.
