What runs cooler... a c2d e6600 or an x2 6000+ ?

My previous rig (built like 7 years ago now... been using laptop) had an AMD 1800+ (non OC'ed) and the heat it poured out was incredible, the machine was like a spaceheater. Is this still the case with AMD chips?

The 6000+ will run warmer, not only is it 600Mhz higher clock, but the Core 2 architecture runs cooler on a clock for clock basis.

The C2D will run much cooler. Many things contribute to this. The 6000+ is a 90nm design, 125w chip that runs 600mhz faster than the C2D, while the e6600 runs obviously 600mhz slower on a 65nm design and is a 65w chip. So the smaller size and lower power requirement as well as slower clock speed contribute to all the main factors that cause heat in a CPU. Though the actual performance of the two chips (speed wise) is quite identical.

No, the E6750 will wipe the floor with the 6000+ in all areas...heat and performance alike! If that is a viable option then I highly suggest that you go with that processor.
