hi,

how do they relate, if at all? interested to know how much a 5% overclock on a quad core Q6600 would reduce life expectancy by.

It varies. Slight OCing won't do much to component life. Increasing the voltage will shorten component life (+heat). Allowing components to run hot is bad (+heat). Better cooling extends life (-heat). Err...

Basically, the more heat the components are producing, the shorter their lifespan is going to be. It varies from component to component. A 5% OC shouldn't remove much life from the processor...
