hi all,
first off...thanks so much for all the info i've already gathered from people here at Tom's Hardware. this is such a great place for info and discourse. it's been about a month or so that i've gathered info concerning my 1st build and it has come time to give ya'll my ideas and hope for responses, tips, and problem solvings. i'll mainly be gaming and web browsing. i also only watch film/tv on my pc, but i imagine if my setup already is fine w/ that, this'll be great. here's what i'll be ordering (hopefully today!) for the build...

PCU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - still browsing sites for best price
GPU - EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082
MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128012
HD - SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152052
PS - Antec True Power Trio TP3-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply with Three 12V Rails http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371002
MEM - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146565
CASE - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel, SECC ATX Mid Tower http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068
DVDRW - i have this already
OS - WinXP Home...updating to Vista in Sept(through school)

= approx 1,000 USD (about my budget, will spend a little more if need be)

ok..now i just have a couple of questions. is everything there? if i decide to dualboot w/ vista, should i have two drives? is the memory good stuff? is a cooling mechanism needed(or is there a comprable case w/ a cooling system)? does this system make sense to overclock? is the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R a better mobo for this setup?

alright! thanks for reading and i'll sit back now and hope for responses,,,be 'em pats on the back or pointing out ridiculous mistakes. thanks again!

jg

just a suggestion but I have seen someone else on here who is buying the same psu bundled with the antec 900 case. Now i almost bought the centurion5 but changed my mind and added a bit extra for the 900 and have been delighted with it. you may even save the difference with the bundle discount

hey thanks for the heads up on the possible bundle discount. i had a local dealer checking a price on the antec, but saw the price of the other box (plus newegg reviews) today. i'll be sure to check it out.
