So here's the deal, my friend and I are planning on building a new gaming rig. Summer is almost over for us and we have like a month left till school... so he's hoping to order by the end of this week, build it next week, and enjoy the last moments gaming since his laptop sucks.

We're novices when it comes to computers, but we did some research and came up with these parts:
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=5579692
Also, he hasn't updated his list yet... so heres what we're aiming for:

Monitor: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16824001096 SAMSUNG 226BW 22" 2 ms $320
Keyboard: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16823175001 Saitek Eclipse II $55
Mouse: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16826104191 Logitech G5 $46
Speakers: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16836121123 Logitech X-230 $32

Case: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811129017 Antec Performance One $130
PSU: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817256012 SILVERSTONE OP650 $140
Mobo: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813127030 ABIT IP35 Pro $185
CPU: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 e6750 $235 (hope it goes down)
HSF: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835186134 ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 $35
RAM: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231065 2x G.skill 2gb (4gb total) $260
VGA: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814130071 8800gts $380
SC: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16829102006 X-Fi XtremeGamer $91
HDD: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231065 SAMSUNG SpinPoint T 500GB $110
CD: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827101131 Sony NEC Optiarc $18
DVD: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827106055 LITE-ON DVD burner $32
FDD: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16821104104 MITSUMI $20

OS: www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16832116204 Vista 64-bit Premium $115

Total (no combos, rebates) = $2204

We'll oc, but not now since it isn't needed because he mainly WoW. We'll probably boost the ram up some...
We'll probably bump up the CPU during winter also when the new games come up, so what would be a good HSF other than the artic 7 at that price range? The ultra-120 looks sweet but too costly.

2900XT or 8800GTS 640? He won't SLI/Crossfire. Again he'll mainly play WoW, with some occasional CoH, BF2, DoD/CS:S

As for sound card and speaker... what would you guys recommend as we have no clue what to get. He listens to music alot, and occasionally watch some movies... I read vista drivers suck so advices would be helpful

And the PSU, theres a combo with the case, the Antec True Power Trio 550 www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371002. Is that good enough for future upgrades?

Budget is $2300 and shipping is about $80 so try to keep it under $2220
*also we'll probably order the cpu elsewhere if the price stays like that

Thanks

XP, Corsair HX520 or HX620

I suggest the Bluegears Benspirer Sound Card ... great, w/ Vista drivers

NO ABIT MOBO!! NO! NONONNONONONONONONONO

Get a Intel BadAxe2, ASUS P5W, ASUS or gigabyte P35, P965, 975X, 650i SLI, 680i SLI, X38...

NO ABIT...

it you want to OC... get a better hsf...

get the GTS 320mb or 640mb, not the 2900XT...

I would get a diff build though:
Antec P180
Gigabyte GA965PDS3
2gb Kingston Value Ram
7900GS, X1950Pro, 8800GTS
Corsair HX520/620
LiteOn DVD Burner
BlueGears Benspirer
Core 2 Duo e4300/e4400 w/ Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro OCd to 3ghz
Core 2 Duo e6420 OCd to 3.4ghz w/ ACF7P or Tuniq Tower or Noctua HSF
Any other C2D, if you arent gonna OC, the e6850@ $266 is good value...

blah blah... write back
