Loading microoft xp

I lost everything off my HP Presario notebook. It used to have Windows XP home edition as its operating system. Unfortunately I do not have recovery discs. HP cannot supply me with recovery discs. Can I buy Windows XP home edition and load it? Can anyone help?

If you know someone who has the discs, you can use theirs to install, and your key to activate. It's legal, and you don't have to buy new.
