Alright, heres the deal I got about ~$130 (USD) and am planning to get a gfx card around end of October or November. Doing preliminary some research and I have narrowed down my search to these two cards. 8600 GT 256 (Overclocked) or a Radeon X1950PRO 256MB.

Now now, before you all say the x1950 pro; consider this. I am going to be doing a decent amount of video editing and video processing. Meaning I will be using Adobe After Effects, Premier Pro and Sony Vegas. Also, will doing a lot of Adobe Photoshop rendering images and stuff. Additionally, I am also a avid gamer so I will be playing a lot competitive BF2, BF2142, CS:S (consider all steam games), World In Conflict, and possible Gears Of War (At resolutions 1400 x 1050 higher or lower depending on the game). So, heres the situation, the reason why I put he 8600 gt up there is because of how well it processes video which I will be needing it and the x1950 pro due to the gaming. Help me decide! What should I do.
As far as Dx10 goes, I really do not care because I know that the 8600 gt is not going to perform well. Is there going to be a 2950 pro refresh or something for a good midrange buy? Or is there going to be a 9800 gtx coming out this fall driving down prices?

First off, what cpu do you have? If its good then without a doubt a 1950. And unless youre really going HD most the time, still the 1950. And unless youre getting the GTS, again the 1950. All speculation as to when the new releases will actually be out, fall, late fall no one knows

If you want one for video and stuff, scrap those 2 and go with the 2600xt GDDR4 version.

Can't you get the x1950pro with avivo? Because then you will have all the advantages that the 8600gt has, if i'm not mistaken doesn't the 8600gt has hd docoding optional? I know that only the 8600gts has it for shure.
So get an x1950pro with avivo.
Get this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814161088 the cooling is very good and silent the extra cash is worth it.

X_x kinda over budget and the HD 2600xt is same thing. Over the budget and not worth the money gaming wise.
