Hey guys, trying to make sure I'm not wasting money before I make the move..

Was about to pull the trigger on :
e6750
g35-ds3r
2 gb ddr800 or 4 gb ddr667..

but im not sure if it's worth the money compared to the AMD equivalent..
im not even sure what's the AMD equivalent ( i know it should be cheaper !! )

other stuff I was planning to use:

antec p182 black,
ati x1950 pro, ( until they sell something worth buying directx 10 ),
250 or 320 gb HDD , either WD or Seagate
corsair cmpsu-620hx 620w
random dvdrw

What do you guys think?

personally I'd get an E2140 and overclock to 3ghz+, more than enough performance for all games to date (and will outperform the E67 at stock settings)

You will get "more" then enought preformance for all games to date? I think that E6750 has a great price/preformance value and you will not be wasting your money on it. (personally I put my bet on Crytek,UT3, Wake and Valve to optimise games for Quads but that's just a bet)

Actually, the E6750 overclocks about the same as an E6420

E6750: http://xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-e6850_11.html#sect0

E6420: http://xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-e6420_11.html#sect0

The E6750 is just an overclocked E6420 w/ G0 steping, so both can reach about the same levels. The only reson I would suggest a P35 MOBO is if you want the ICH9 / ICH9R southbridge (which is best southbridge avalible) you could save some $$$ by buying a P965 DS3 and not be missing much (it has 1333 Mhz FSB support too, look at the website).

well i would go for 2gb of ram cos unless you have a 64 bit os some of the 4 gigs will be wasted, but other than that it looks good
