I resently bought a new Western Digital 500GB SATA hard drive:

When i first put it in my computer it was reconized perfectly and then i processed to install Windows Vista that process when flawlessly but after about 3 weeks of use with Vista i did not like the new operating system so i decided to go back to Windows XP but during installation of XP it ask to restart like normal but during the start up at the bio screen when its auto detecting the CPU, RAM, drives, etc. it would get to the SATA drive and just hang/freeze and would not go any further i let it sit thinking it would take a minute to load up but no go

here is a picture to help people understand which bio screen i'm talking about:

Check your BIOS settings to make sure it's set to recognize the SATA drive. You could also try running the WD diagnostic/repair software off a floppy
