Has anybody tried a E6750 with the Gigabyte GA P965-DS3 Rev 1.3 board? I purchased the board a while ago on a slickdeal and was planning to build my system with an E6600 when the prices came down. However, I'd like to use an E6750 since they are cheaper and perform better. The Gigabyte website says the Rev 1.3 board supports 1333 MHz FSB but doesn't say that it is compatible with the E6750. Has anybody paired the two and had it work properly?

Thanks

I do not believe that board has the 2.4 multiplier to get the memory to the right frequency. It does have a 2.5 multiplier so I see no reason why that board won't work. The newer processors use the same voltage as the old ones. The memory just may be overclocked a bit.

This is the memory I bought for this system:http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820148069

Brand Crucial
Series Ballistix
Model BL2KIT12864AA1065
Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB)
Speed DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Cas Latency 5
Timing 5-5-5-15
Voltage 2.2V
Heat Spreader Yes

Do you think the memory will be ok? I've never overclocked before but with a good guide I'm sure I could figure something out. I probably should have looked at more of the big picture when I was picking components instead of looking for the best deal for each component...
