AGP Question

I'm trying to set the bios for an AGP card in a Socket-478 mobo. I've never dealt with AGP before so this is probably a dumb question.
card-FX5500 256mb 128bit interface bus 4X/8X
mobo 4x slot
I'm trying to set the "Graphic Win Size" in bios setup. size of the aperture for graphic adapter
should it be
64m
128m
256m
The old card was a Raedon 7000v 32mb and it was set at 8m
64x4=256mb
128bit bus
256mb card

I would probably set it to 128.

you can play around with it.

get a benchmarking tool like say 3dmark03 (that should be ok for ur card), then try the different sizes and see which one gives u the best performance.

Im sure i saw some explanation about this somewhere.

Thanks for the link, helped alot. 256m works fine, that's what I was thinking. I discovered the problem I was having. I just upgraded the driver from 93.71WHQL to the July 26 new WHQL 162.18 (XP 32bit). The problem is if you have less than 1.5GB system ram you take a big performance hit (162.18 release notes). This was my old rig I upgraded last week with the 5500 and 1GB DDR ram. 93.71 is from 10/06 and wasn't updated till last week. I guess adding the 5000 series to the latest drivers isn't that good if you don't have newer hardware. I rolled it back to 93.71
