I'm currently using Vibe Streamer to stream my library from my server. It's great, except for the fact that it doesn't stream FLAC files, only mp3's. Now, most of my music library is a mixed combination of mp3's and flac files. I was wondering if there's a way to convert all the flac files to mp3's and replace the original flac files in their respectful folders. Any help would be great. Thank you.
I'd still keep the FLAC files, at least for archiving as you won't be able to obtain the audio quality back once you compress them further into an MP3.
For converting FLAC to MP3 I use Foobar2000 and the newest LAME encoder.
- Open foobar2000, choose your music, right click, choose convert
- Select output format, click add new, choose MP3 LAME at 320 kbps, click back
- Choose destination folder and how you want your tracks to be labeled.
- Click convert, it will ask for the LAME.exe only once, navigate to it and your good to go.
You can delete your old FLACs if you want but I would just store them somewhere else in case you need them.
