I hate the fact that everything is integrated onto the board now. Especially when the video is integrated. So Ive been looking at building a system and all I can come up with now are mother boards that have audio integrated onto them. I dont want that.

I do want - overclocking, support for 45nm chips, support for 8Gb DDR3 RAM, and a whole lotta expansion slots.

What is there available now?

Afraid you will have to manufacture one yourself. I suggest buy the MB you like to have, disable sound in th BIOS and install the sound card of your choice.

Whats the big deal? Just turn off what you don't want.

Oh........thats kinda what I thought anyways after doing alot of research. I read the newest article about over clocking the quad core and it mentions a few mobos in it. I checked them out. Which one of those is the best? And what would be more advantageous - 8gb of ddr2 or 4 gb of ddr3?

well 4 gb of ddr3 might cost a pretty penny. and 8 gb of ddr2 is pretty much overkill. plus either combination would require vista x64. I like the gigabyte ds3r p35 board. its got good support and plenty of features. and i would try and get a g0 revision of the q6600.

The ASUS BlitzExtreme doesn't have integrated audio. It has a removable PCI x1 audio card.

Also, some of the high end DFI boards have a removable "karajin" audio card.

Oh yeah! That one too!!
The thing i didn't like about it was that the slot was proprietary.
You couldn't just toss the card and have an extra slot to use.
