Hey guys, I'm running a q6600 on an Antec Neopower 480 thats a couple years old. It has dual 12V rails but is it enough for OCing a Q6600?

I'm stable 9x333 @ 1.285V but that seems high compared to others. For me to get stable at 3.2Ghz, I have to go all the way up to 1.3625V. Is that normal? Would a better PSU allow for better OC's with lower voltages? I've seen PSUs now with 3 12v rails. My setup:

Asus P5B-Deluxe
C2Q Q6600
4GB Corsair XMS DDR 667
7900GT 256MB
SB X-Fi ExMu
500GB SATA HDD
16x SATA DVD-RW
3.5" Media Card Reader
Antec NeoPower 480 PSU

Anyone know? thanks.

The new Antec's actually have 4 12v rails now

I love antec's used to have a neopower 480 myself before i gave it a nice power surge.

I would think if its running stable all is well, 7900GTs aint all that hungry for power either. I would only have cause for concern if you moved to a highend 8000series.

Nice OC though

Thanks, but it doesn't seem worth it to go to 3.2Ghz. The voltage trade-off seems silly. It makes negligible difference when rendering 3ds max. I go from 18 secs to 17 secs in a test scene. Woo....

I need to go to 1.318v at 333x9 with an enermax 485w psu... Granted this is with a Q6600 and an 8800gts, so my power supply may be struggling
