If your not into heavy gaming or photo editing then what is your purpose for getting either of these cards?

For the performance it would be the obvious choice to get the X1950XT, it's the same price and much better performing. Not sure what your motive is and what you want out of the graphics card but you could opt for something like a 7600GT or X1650 rather than cards like these.

The X1950XT is far superior than the X1950 Pro, forget about memory or clocks. Those two are based on two different cores, the X1950XT is based on the R580 while the X1950Pro is based on the RV570+ (I believe, not sure).

Icy18 - You are correct, Currently a 7600 Gt, or a 7900GS is satisfactory right now. Plan on staying with what I get thru 08. Not sure what my needs will be 6 monthes from now. Also plan on getting either the ATI TV wonder ($126- new egg),or Hauppauge PVR 1600 (On sale Compusa for $80)

If you plan to keep this graphics for a little while then i would choose the Saphire X1950Pro, it's cheap and should provide you with plenty of power for long time.

icy19 - Sapphire X1950Pro is $141, and sapphire X1950 Xt is $151 (after $20 rebate). This is current prices at Newegg. Only $10 difference.

Obviously the X1950XT :) Have fun gaming

These arent really heavy gaming cards anymore believe it or not.

Either of those ATI cards should have VIVO and so would negate the need for the TV Wonder or Hauppage.

Reply to uberman

Hatman - Yes I know they are not for heavy Gaming, but not into heavy gaming.

uberman - Need one, or the other for the TV tuner. I would have gotten the X1900 AIW except that in ATI?AMD altimute wisom - no longer produce - and not supporting the MMC, due to the usoft vista police and there drm crap.

Reply to RetiredChief

Well then i would go for the X1950XT, i never take into account mail in rebates because it is not guaranteed money. For a $10 difference get the XT.

Reply to IcY18

Believe it or not, the X1950XT can still run most new games at 1280x1024 on high quality at more than playable framerates.

X1950XT is the way to go. It's an unchallenged king for the sub-$200 price point.

the only reason i didnt buy the xt was that it was double sided and i didnt have room for the double decker... hope i didnt pass up a smaller one lol...

Reply to jnava121

i own a 1950pro but honestly for an extra $10 get the 1950XT, lol they were about $100 more expensive when i bought my pro, the pro has 36 pixel shaders and the XT has 48,says it all eh?? 1/4 faster almost.

If either one would meet the needs, then the PRO does it more quietly, cooler, and drawing less power.
