TV-OUT help please!

ok, so using the catalyst control center i had my tv as a secondary clone of my monitor. i had my monitor at 1280x1024, and my tv let me keep that and just scroll to see the corners of my desktop or whatever i had on screen. however. i just had to update my graphics drivers (problems with a new game) and now when i set my tv as a clone it initially works but whenever i restart it resets my monitor to 1024x768 and displays the same thing on the tv and the monitor. its annoying the hell out of me, anyone know how i fix this? (p.s. i need it to be a clone cus i use it for games on the tv, an extended desktop is not any help to me)

p.s. another thing it used to do was start working straight away. i mean, i could see the xp loading screen on both my tv and my monitor, however i have noticed now that does not happen anymore, the first time the tv shows a picture is when i have my stupid monitor set to 1024 and i get the welcome screen when xp has already loaded. dont know if thats any help.
