problem fitting ram into slot

hi

i got a problem i have bought a p5n-e sli motherboard and 1gb ddr2 667 crucial ram and i can't get it to go in the slot. i know sounds stupid. but if i press to hard it feels like the ram and motherboard is going to bend and might get damaged. i've pressed firmly at both ends but the clips won't go automatically.
what should i do?, should i exert more force?

yeah i know its embarrassing :lol: but got it in just added little more pressure and went in. Only reason i was asking was if i press it to hard it may get damaged. btw this is not the first time i'm installing ram just this time i don't know, it didn't go in as easily it should. no probs
