I hope this isn't a stupid question. I just got a 8800GTX that has two 6 pin power receptacles. Do I need to use both or just one? I am not running SLI.

Thanks!

I do have two 6 pin power connectors coming from the PSU, I just wasn't clear if the card needed them both or not.

Thanks for the reply vertigo!

Connect them both the card takes just a little to much power for 1 cable...so they added another....it may work...but it would be out of ATX specs for the 1 cable to deliver all the power(well some comes from your board too.......

also you should use two different lines of power coming out of the power supply so you even out the draw of power, if you look each line or rail has about 20 amps

I've got a CoolMax 700W Modular PSU. This is a new build and this PSU had overall very good reviews, plus I wanted a modular design.

I will use both power connectors. Just out of curiosity, what if you were running SLI? Would you need a PSU that had four 6 pin PCIe power connectors?

Thanks for all the help to all, I really appreciate it!

Well that all depends on what color your case is.
