Hi I was just wondering if my system could run a 8800GTS at its full capabilities. Here is my system:

AMD 3700+ Sandiego @ 2.1ghz
2gigz of OCZ Platinum @ 400mhz each
Soundblaster XFI xtreme music
ASUS 939socket A8N-SLI premium
OCZ Powerstream 520Watts PSU
Case : ANtec P180
CPU HSF: Arctic COoling freezer 64

My current Vid card is a Evga 7900GT (not overclocked)

I only scored 3000 3dmarks in 3dmark 06 1.1.0 (Basic Version downloaded from 3dguru.com)

I was wondering if that 3d score was normal for a setup like mine? And would my current system bottlneck a 8800GTS at all if i were to get one?

That is strange... your 3700 is 2.2 at stock....

What is your FSB at?

I would suggest an overclock... the San Diego core is the FX57 core... I was able to get to 2.8Ghz stable.

After hearing all these bottleneck questions, I am almost regretting the release of Tom's Hardwares article about bottlenecking the 8800 series.

To put it simply, by switching to an 8800GTS, you will notice a large difference in games. Your 3700+ should not bottleneck the 8800 in any noticeable way, so don't worry about that.

In terms of your 3DMark06 score, I score 2569 points. In 3DMark05, I score 5583 points(with the system specs that used to be in my sig, the new forum messed some things up). Looking at Futuremark's website, people with your system specs score in the 4000 range in 3DMark06. So yes, your system does seem to be performing on the low end.

To remedy your 3DMark problem, just do some basic system maintenance - defragment your hard drive, check for viruses and spyware, install the latest drivers, and make sure your bios settings are correct.

My CPU was at 2.2 gigz i now have it overclocked to 2.4 ghz and I put a new quiter fan on my 7900GT- My 7900GT scored 1689 in SM2.0 and 1900 in SM3.0 in 3dmark 06 and my processor scored 958 after overclocking - 800 before overlcocking in 3dmark cpu test

are there any good sites that give you info on overclocking your CPU and Video card?

My asus mobo lets me overclock my CPU 10% so that my sandiego runs at 2.4ghz -- my temps are 41 on the cpu and 39 on the mobo at that overclock.

if anyone could give me any good sites to learn about FSB and voltage on the CPU and how to increase my video cards performace through overclocking, that would be great, thanks.
