Hi all,

I'm planning on buying the following PC:

CPU
Intel Q6600 - 289$

CPU Cooler
Tuniq 120 Tower - 53$

MB
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R - 189$

RAM
2x Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 - 210$

Video
BFG GeForce 8600GT - 100$

HDD
4x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA2 - 464$

Case
Antec 900

PSU
Antec Neo HE550

This is not a gaming PC, it's more a good workstation that will last a good time.

the only thing I'm not decided on is the Case and PSU. I'm not looking for a flashy case. Just something where all my parts will fit in properly and will have adequate air cooling.

Also, is the PSU strong enough or should I look at 700W+ ?

Thanks for your feedbacks,

You can get the same ram for $74 on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220144
Mother board is cheaper there too.

Case, nothing flashy, yet practical, with good airflow and no danger to your pockets? Centurion 534:

or LIAN LI PC-G50

For your system I'd suggest going top quality 500W PSU, Corsair 520HX would be perfect, clearly one of the best PSU's you can get for $80:

I recommend getting some thermal paste for your Tuniq 120 too, MX-1 is great:

Thanks for the feedback,

I might go for the Corsair 520HX or 620HX for the PSU

for the case I'm still looking at the Antec 900.

and yes I will get some thermal paste, I forgot to put in in the list.

You're aware that the NeoHE series and the Corsair HX series are both manufactured by Seasonic right? And that they are physically very similar, except to the sticker and a small difference in amps here and there.

Both are top notch units, I should know it, I own an Antec NeoHE 500 and believe me, you'll be fine with the 550, especially if you don't plan on using any decent video card (I'm powering a GTS-320 system and still got a lot of current to spare). The Antec NeoHE 500 has 38A on the combined 12V rail, The NeoHE 500 and 550 are both very close to the Corsair 520HX. And antec also released a PSU to compete with the Corsair 620HX for the NeoHE line up which is the new Antec NeoPower Blue 650W. All of these units are manufactured by Seasonic and put different stickers by each company, so I really don't see why you believe that the corsair HX is superior to the Antec NeoHE. The TruePower Trio however, is a very different line up in the antec series.
