My friend has a gaming system he got from his brother (now in Iraq) and he has been able to figure out this much about the graphics card:

ATI X1900 series
GPU = 7249
DAC = 400mhz
Mem = 512mb DDR3
Bios = 113-A52025-109
Bios Date = 3/31/06
Driver = 8.36
Catalyst Vers = 7.4
Core Clock = 500mhz
Mem Clock 594mhz

Basically it looks like this is a X1900 512mb - correct?

What can be done to improve the performance of this card?

Also, how would this card compaire to a 7900GTX 512mb?

The x1900 is better than the 7900GTX at most games. Best way to increase performance would be to overclock. Download ati tool and play around with the mem and core clocks. Just make sure to monitor temperature when you are oc'ing because the x1900's get really hot.

Also update the drivers to 7.7 from the ati website.
