How to use usb to sata ide adapter to transfer mi documents

Hi i need information about it. recently i bought the usb to sata/ide adapter, but i don't know how to use it. I am already install the cd, bUt i did not see my hard drive in any location on my computer.

You plug the data & power connectors into the hard drive, plug the power cord into the mains and the usb cable into the pc.

Your statement "I am already install the cd, bUt i did not see my hard drive in any location on my computer." makes me wonder what it is you are trying to do.
You're not by any chance booting off the Vista disk and trying to get data off the hdd? if not what is the relavence of that statement.
