I'm new to computer building/overclocking but I was hoping that more advanced user can comment on the build i am considering. Since this was my first time, I wanted to spend a little more on the case since I could probably reuse it in future builds and I wanted something with good cable management. I also wanted to spend a little extra for a psu that has modular cables for better airflow.

Antec P-182 Case $139 at Buy.com with free ship (chose because of good cable management with cables running behind motherboard tray)
Corsair HX-520 PSU $79.99 AR at Buy.com (modular cables for better airflow)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P $149.99 at Newegg(P35 chipset for future CPU upgrades and has firewire support)
Intel C2D E4400 $126 at Newegg (I want to overclock it to at least 3ghz)
Wester Digital 250gb SATA hard drive $64.99 at Newegg
OCZ Gold Gamer Extreme 2gb kit $59.90 AR at ZipZoomFly
ASUS Black 18X DVD Burner $33.99 at Newegg
Cooler Master GeminII CPU Cooler $15 AR at Newegg
Cooler Master 120 mm fan for CPU cooler, 2 pack, $9.99 at Newegg
Artic Silver 5 $5.99 at Newegg

The only thing I am missing is a video card. I was thinking about the 7900gs from Frys that was posted but it seems to be out of stock. I would like not to spend more than $150 on a video card right now so any suggestions would be welcome. I dont have a spare video card so I'll need something to get my system up and running. I thought about getting a GeForce 8500 or 8600 since they are cheap but I read that they don't perform as well as the 7XXX series and dont play current DX10 games at good framerates. For that reason i figured i would upgrade to a 8XXX series later this year or next when then next 8XXX cards come out and can play future DX10 games at good framerates.

Some thing I would like to know:

1. Am i missing anything?
2. With this setup will I be able to hit 3GHz or higher? Should I consider any other CPUs and if so why? The other one I was considering was the E6320
3. The GeminII is a large heatsink. Will i have trouble fitting that into the P182 with the top and rear case fans already installed?

Any recommendations on other parts i should consider would be greatly appreciated, especially if they will save me money. BTW, some of the rebate above expire on 7/31 so a quick response so I can place my order would be greatly appreciated.

Hi TheVegas,

Below are 2 links from sites that have the nVidia 7900 graphic card and another to EVGA site that you might wish to view before buying a graphic card.

It is $159.99 for this card. But EVGA has a StepUp program.

Participants will be allowed, for one time only, to trade in their existing EVGA video card and upgrade to a select greater performing video card. Not all customers will be eligible for this program.

Hope this helps you out.

You should always try to spend at least twice as much on the graphics card as you would with the CPU. However I can understand that you're on a budget and I have the perfect solution for you, that gives you the most performance available for your money

SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 VIVO HDCP Video Card - Retail

You won't find a faster card on this price range unless you jump to the 8800GTS 320MB.
