External hard drive issues

I am having an issue with my external hard drive: 1st I lost all of my music files I tried to use a data recovery to recover the lost files I was able to see them but couldn't recover them, now when I try to access the hard drive via the short cut that I have on my desktop it says that the driver could not be found it is listed in the disk mangement but without the letter that was assigned to it when I right-click on the volume it sends me to help.

Can anyone help me to figure out the problem so that I may access the drive again

If it's recognized in Disk Manager, right click and an option should be available to change the drive letter

Thanks but I tried that and it only shows help when I do that but I found another posting with a similar issue so I am going to try that and see if it works
