A friend is having problems with his new 8800GTS displaying patches of black on the ground while playing BF2. Looks like a shader issue due to drivers but could it also be heat? It was a new install and he says there were no old drivers to delete. Sorry I don't have his Forceware version or OS. I am beginning to suspect heat but there are no white artifacts present. At this point I was just wondering if someone has experienced this and their experience dealing with it. TIA

he should be using the newest nvidia drivers not the one that came with the video card.

You problem is overheating. Or unstable PSU.

i would recommend downloading ATItool to check for overheating, and if that is the issue you should download RivaTuner, which will allow you to adjust the fan speed on the 8800.
