I have a 7 year old compaq presario BW 5000T that i bought brand new back in the year 2000 and it came with a 40GB hard drive and i wanted to know if its possible to replace it with a 160GB and will it be able to handle it ? any help is appreciated...

Sure you can substitute a 160 for the 40. I installed a 120 GB WD IDE on my Pentium III 450 mhz. replacing the 12 Gb Maxtor Fireball that the system came with. Still runs great!
