I just bought a 1900XTX 512 awhile ago. Its good and all that but I then bought a 1950XTX 512 CF edition from an unsuspecting ebayer.

Question is...........will this card work on its own or is it intended to be a Xfire only card? I read the tech specs and they indicate no difference between the 2 cards.

Oh.......then whats the point of having the Xfire edition?

As an aside.........when did ebay become more expensive than mainstream suppliers? X1950XT 512 for 169.99 on newegg.com

Actually the X1950XTX cards DO need a crossfire edition card if you want crossfire, it's the x1950pro's that use crossfire2 not requiring a master/slave setup.

Yes the card will work fine on it's own, and if you want to crossfire another x1950xtx in the future you can do with any other x1950xtx version card (master or standard, although standard is usually cheaper and easier to find).

I stand corrected, after digging a little deeper, the X1950xt and xtx do come in crossfire and non-crossfire versions. I had thought I read when they released the the 1950 series, they were going to implement that on all cards. Sorry, I was wrong!

cause there are some really crazy people out there :pt1cable:

I sold my 5 month old 7800GS agp card for £160....when i actually bought it off ebay 5 months earlier for £140 :sarcastic: :na:

then i just used that money to get the x1950pro for £120, there by actually making a profit selling an old card for a better new card  (this was about 4-5 months ago, so the 7800 would be almost a year old by now)

I suspect that the unsuspecting ebayer wasn't as unsuspecting as you suspected. :pt1cable:
