OK, so ive had my build for awhile now, since January dabbled into OCing my E6600 a bit here there but ended up having to reset back to default it due to problems.
Educated myself a bit more by reading the Overclocking guides here at THG that are posted and be more cautious.
My setup
E6600@2.4Ghz(right now at default)
EVGA 680I(with latest BIOS)
EVGA 8800GTX Overclocked verison
2GB(4x512MB) Corsair 800mhz DDR2 right now at 2.1V(recommended by EVGA tech support) at 5-4-4-12(T1)
X-FI soundcard
2 WD 7200RPM HDD in Raid 0(160+250GB)
EDIT: forget powersupply
OCZ 700W 18AMPS on 2 12v rails
So after a bit of screwing around i was able to reach 1960Mhz(490FSB) couldnt get it past 500 which i read around is quite normal. so great, wasnt too stable failed Orthos 2 hours and 13 mins into it lowering it too 1920Mhz seemed to do the trick and was stable, only problem seem to be my memory cant OC worth a darn, trying for 900mhz at 5-5-5-18(2T) Windows Vista wouldnt boot, for for some reason at 5-5-5-15(2T) windows booted but failed Ortho's within 13mins. keeping my memory at 800Mhz 5-5-5-15(2T) everything seems ok.
So deciding to play it say i decided to go with x8 Multiplier, at 1600mhz(400FSB)@3.2Ghz and keep my memory at 800Mhz 1:1 the FSB was 1.5V and Vcore was 1.5V just to be safe. Fine pasted othros for hours stable.
ok everythings going fine was playing the World In Conflict beta one time and my computer crashes. The game Freezes can hear the sounds looping and lost my Video signal to the monitor for some reason. Upon restarting my computer everything i did in BIOs was reset to default and all my work lost. Understanding that this just could be a random occurence just left everything at default but changed my memory to 3-3-3-9(1T) 533Mhz 1:1 with the 1066Mhz.
So after having many Vista related sound problems i switched back to XP.
overclocked here are the results
E6600@3.412Ghz FSB 1.5v / Vcore 1.5v / 1520Mhz 380FSB
800Mhz @ 5-4-4-12 Timings
Ran orthos temps stayed around 55-59C load, 40-45 Idle. Stable for 6 hours 15 minutes 0 errors 0 warnings.
System ran fine the whole day until i played a game of Company of heros for the first time since its been OC'ed near the end of the game the computer restarts itself..... so its stable for 6 hours in Orthos but cant do one game of COH!?????? that just really puzzled me
Went into bios lowed the Vcore to 1.425 and 1440Mhz (360FSB)
Didnt bother with Othros seeing as it was stable at the higher clock so far no problems.
So if i may recap on what i need help solving.
1) its been happening alot, randomly, but i say 6 times my computer has Frozen and lost Video signal, WIC sounds loops but other applications such as Teamspeak still work and i can talk be heard and hear others. No warnings just BAM frozen and my monitor reports "no video signal" until i restart my computer.
2) Computer Restarted itself when playing a game of COH even though stable threw out 6 hours of stress testing via Orthos.
