I bought a 120gb usb hard drive (WD brand) from best buy for $90 at the start of the fall semester. I would like to know how to check the interface of the drive (If I were to open up the device) to see if it is compatible with a battery-powered enclosure. I hope to be able to run the hard drive away from a computer. I would appreciate any product recommendations as well.
Thanks

PS: I tested the drive the day I bought it with a simple utility and it had a read transfer rate of 29mb/sec constant. If I remember correctly, it is atypical for a hard drive to have uniform numbers. Is this test interface limited? The small hard drives sure have gotten faster in the last few years.
