I have a belkin 54g wireless router.

have had many problems setting up the wireless network.

This being the 3rd time lucky and I am now connected - hurrah !

Although now my wireless network is called "belkin54g" and not what I previously called it. Also there is no security even though when setting it up I added a password.

How do I rename the network and more importortantly how do i set up security ?

Any help greatfully recieved

Two possibilities;

1) You reset the router so that it is now using the default SSID -- you need to log in to your router's user pages (read the manual) to change the default and to set up wireless security.

2) You are currently connecting to the internet via a neighbour's Belkin router.

look on the available networks screen, can you still see your old network listed? if so id suggest resetting it, connect via a wired connection to set a new ssid and wep code and write it down and selotape it to the router. now try again with the wireless using what you wrote down.
