Live support is likely not going to know.

If you read the reviews you will find that recent posters are reporting both steppings have shipped within the past week or two.

I suspect if you ordered one today, you would get a G0 since they have gone in/out of stock.

However, when they restock there is no guarentee that one of their distributors did not have B3s in stock or restocked with B3s since they picked them up at a good price.

Would it really be that hard for Intel to provide a different SKU for a scenario like this? If there is enough of a difference in terms of performance/features that people are actively seeking a specific stepping, I think that's a new product... and thus... a new SKU.

While significant for OC'ers, its hardly a big enough performance for a new SKU. From all the "hoopla" you would think it's the next best thing since sliced bread, when it isn't THAT big of a deal. If it were, Intel would be capitalizing on it in a heart beat.

When you have over 100 FPS, what's 10 more gonna do anyway?

The only way to really tell is by looking at the power usage. NewEgg made it clear to me the other day that they do not give any information about any products that isn't already on the product page; so, contacting them will be useless.

sSpec# CPU Speed Processor # PCG Bus Speed Mfg Tech Stepping
SLACQ 2.66 GHz Q6700 05A 1066 MHz 65 nm G0
SL9UM 2.40 GHz Q6600 05B 1066 MHz 65 nm B3
SLACR 2.40 GHz Q6600 05A 1066 MHz 65 nm G0

This was taken from the Intel site. I don't know about Egg... but I think Mwave.com and clubit.com are taking orders for the G0 stepping by asking for the sSpec# SLACR.. If on backorder you might have to wait a week or so.

hope this helps.
