Hiper or OCZ?

I need a new PSU for my X1950XT, this 420w with a 14a +12v isn't cutting it. I have 2 HDDs, 2 DDR2 ram sticks, an X2 3800+, and a multi burner.

My case is pretty small, and I wanted modular.

If this one will power my PC, that's the one I'll get

But if not, this is my second choice

The box for my card recommends a 30A +12v

In your expert opinion, is the Hiper PSU enough for my system, or should I go with the OCZ?

I'm open to any suggestions for other PSUs, but I REALLY like this design

More about hiper
  1. OCZ. Definetly.
  2. I second the OCZ!

  3. Read the reviews for the Hiper PSU. The PSU seams to die on you after a year of use with out notice and I hear its quite common. If I were you I'd get a Corsair 620 thats very nice and very quiet, its also modular.
  4. I cant' find the thread where I just saw this, in order to give proper credit, but here is a PS ranking.
    OCZ GameXStream is tier 2
    Hyper is tier 4

  5. Well, what do you reccomend for a modular PSU?
    This maybe?
  6. i have the ocz 700w, if money is not an issue, get the ocz
  7. ocz - no doubt
  8. ocz is a no brainer...If you can afford it go pc p & c,get the best...although ocz is in bed with them as we speak,gl.
  9. Money is an extreme issue, now I only have $100 left for a PSU......
  10. Corsair just came out with a 450 model and is bringing a 550 watt model at 100. I'd wait and get that one since it will probably be the best (and newest) for the price range. (Not a fan boy I swear)
  11. I use a OCZ Stealthextreme cant complain about them at all, I honestly cannot hear it unless i stick my head in it.
  12. Another vote for OCZ
  13. ocz > hiper
  14. I have the 600w version of the OCZ PSU in my new system, it's incredibly stable and powerful. Go for the OCZ.
  15. i have had 2 hipers die. 1 at 10 months and the 2nd at 2 months!
i went with Enermax Galaxy DXX 1KW. when i built my last puter
  16. I own the OCZ power supply and it has no trouble powering my system:

    AMD Athlon X2 4800+ @ 2.6GHz :(
    2GB PC3200 DDR (2-3-3-6)
    eVga Geforce 8800GTX
    eVga Geforce 8600GT
    Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
PowerColor ATI Theater Pro 550 PCIe 1x
250GB Western Digital 7200RPM 16MB cache SATA HDD
    3 DVD/RW drives
    1 Floppy
4 80mm LED cooling fans and 1 120mm LED fan.
