Just wondering if what brand flash stick (pen drive not a SSD hardrive or anything) is makes a difference to performance, lifetime, etc. If it does, what brands are recommended?
Cheers.

Sandisk Micro Cruzer. They are awesome. Last weekend Circuit City had the 2GB model for $20. Yeah, there are cheaper brands, but the Micro Cruzers rock.

I have a 1GB Memorex Travel Drive I picked up last Christmas for $10 on sale. Not entirely happy with it because its only about 12MB/s on reads (benched) and slower on writes. Thats about as fast as my old 128MB Lexar that I lost. Oh and I hate how most models have a detachable cap that completely comes off and you can lose... because I always lose them. With my old Lexar it was part of the key-chain.

I have had it for 2 years and the casing cam apart so I had to glue it but it still works like new with very fast transfer rates

Have you tried PQI?
It may not be good functionally, but one of its model is as graceful as an ear ring...
Transcend is my choice for a balance between functionality and price.
