I saw in tom's cpu chart for the vista cpu score section, the e6600 got a score of 5.7,
But my e6600 only can score 5.4, even if i oc to 10 (or 20%..forgot) i only manage to get 5.6.
I would like to know why there is the diff, since it's the same model. Possible the mainboard which i using may limit the cpu scoring? and hows u guys score for e6600?
thanks for answering. I'm curious on this. ;)

edit: 5.4 after 10% clock, just start my vista to see the score.

I get 5.4 with e6600 stcok , 7900gtx , 2gb ram , what are ur other specs ?

Poor vista users... my 939 based opty 175 gets 4.9. My ddr ram gets 4.5. graphics, (2 x 6800 ultras in sli) get 5.9 in desktop, 5.0 in gaming. My HD gets 5.9. Guess my base score...

For CPU, i get 5.7
for ram , i get 5.4
for graphic i get 5.9
for gaming i get 5.9
overall : 5.4

The only non overclcoked retail prossesors that get 5.9 are actually Quads, which suprised me. I thought the dual core extreme would of or the e6850 but it falls just short.

Just to ask, has either of you managed to get a higher vista score by overclocking?

well...so is it possible the motherboard that cause my cpu score limited?

gigabyte 8800gts 320mb
gigabyte GA-965P-S3
WD 160gb SATA2 hdd
2gb Cosair twinx xms2 ddr800 sli
530watt enlight psu

cpu, 5.4
ram, 5.9
graphic, 5.9
gaming , overall - forgot
cos i currently using xp (dual boot, seldom use vista) so..some i forgot the score already =p (will look into it later)

No it wont be limited, bottlenecked or anything, some will just likely do better than others.

Vista has a rating system that rates your CPU, memory, graphics, aero interface compatability, and hard drive.

Max rating is 5.9. Its not intended to be a benchmark YET more like a guide for you too see if any of your parts are slowing you down.

My score is:
5.1 - e6600 CPU, Gigabyte P35-DQ6 MoBo, not overclocked
5.8 - RAM, 4Gb Corsair 64005DHX
5.9 - Graphics Card, 8600GT
5.9 - Gaming graphics
5.6 - Data transfer rate, 2x Seagate 500Gb
Overall 5.1

Need to learn how to overclock...will it help my score.

hmm...it seem although using the same cpu, the result still will not may be the same? i just start my vista and see my score is only 5.4 ... with e6600

gaming graphic: 5.9
primary hdd: 5.3
base score: 5.3

How did you get those ratings with a 8600gt? how far are you over clocking it? Mine is clocked at 555/444 and it still only gets ratings of 5.6 and 5.4. How did you get 5.9?

CPU (T7600G @ 2.83GHz): 5.6
Memory (Patriot 2x2GB DDR2 667): 4.7 (darn slow FSB on notebook cpus...)
Graphics (Geforce Go 7950GTX): 5.9
Gaming: 5.8
HDD (Samsung HM250JI 250GB 5400RPM): 5.2

I have a base score of 5.9, overclocking it help push the cpu score up to 5.9

Lol, that Windows Experience Index isn't fine toned. You can't really tell much from it. It's geared toward mainstream anyway. Any decent gaming setup should get 5.9 on all categories. Mine does, and it's barely decent.
