I see. If it's under warranty and all you pay is shipping costs, and you are sure you can find a buyer, then it's worth trying. A new one would cost $60 to $130, depending on how much RAM it's got, but it's new and has a warranty. You'd probably sell it for half of that.
What kind of PSU do you have? The X1950 series consumes more than the X1600, you need to check for compatibility.
The x1950Pro only uses about 75w on full load, so it won't need all that much in the way of PSU. The x1950xt however, uses about 110w full load, so you will have a better chance of needing to upgrade the PSU also if you want to go with the x1950xt.

If you send a card that old for repair to a company like evga there is aslo a chance that they may send you a newer card if they no longer have stock of 1600 series cards, happens a lot so I would send it in either way.
