maybe they can't tell the difference between E6600 and Q6600, which is what everyone is really talking about with the price drops..???? Sometimes its intended marketing confusion that throws the casual noob off.

The E6600 has a higher multiplier than the E6750? Or they think they are getting a Q6600? Remember though the e6*50 series was just launched a few weeks ago. A lot of systems have been built using the highly overclockable E6600.

Yeah the E6600 has been out for a long time so it's been the only choice, anyone one who buys from here on will most likely get the new E6x50s because they will be cheaper and in stock.

To Maziar 1333mhz cpu's would be actually worse at oc'ing than the 1066mhz ones because of the multiplier is lower.

Depends on the exact version of the 1333 CPUs.

They can run at MUCH higher speeds than the older CPUs.
However, it can be much easier to hit a FSB wall due to memory or motherboard.

You will hit much higher top speeds with an E6850 than a E6550 for this reason. In the past, you could often hit the same top speed with an E4300 as an E6800.

If going for an 1333FSB chip, look for DDR2-1066 and likely a the E6750 or higher, not the E6550. You are likely better off with something like an E4400 which can be OC'd quite well on DDR2-800. The E6550 will shine when/if Mobos/Ram can more easily hit higher FSBs.

so my question is...which one should i get if i am to OC?E6600 or E6750?theyre just about the same price...actually the E6750 is cheaper w/c i find kinda weird as its 2.66 compared to 2.4, bus speed is 1333mhz as to 1066mhz...sorry if im being a noob about this, just dont wanna go wrong on my pc upgrade...

The E6600 has a higher multiplier so it's easier to overclock on boards or RAM that can't take the extra speed. The E6750 has the G0 revision core which allows it to reach a higher maximum speed. Many overclockers don't have the required hardware to reach high speeds on the E6750's low multiplier.

If you were to go with the E6750 on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R what
would you recomend for 2 Gig of memory. I always liked crucial but
you might know of something better. I guess you have to go with the
faster memory for the E6750. Thanks.

Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 with 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-12 timings, or G.skill DDR2-800 with 4-4-4-12 timings, both memory modules listed are very cheap right now for the performance they deliver.

so most likely, this would be the ideal setup if i were to get E6750?is the same mobo great for E6600?sorry, i really have no idea which to get... :cry:

I have the e6750 paired with 2gb crucial ballistix 4-4-4-12 and a gigabyte ds3-p35. You can't go wrong with these three for the price.

I'm not gonna Lie, I would easily advise the buying of an E6600 over the 6750, It is just that great of a chip/ overclocker.

Just get the E6750, leave it alone and have fun with it. These chips are so overpowered that you will never utilize the chip too its full potential. Think of having a Dodge Viper, the power is there if you ever need it, but it would be stupid to make it even more powerful.
