Hiya,

I have a 7950 gx2, And suffer from poor frame rate in Warcraft (guessing its due to Warcraft not supporting the dual gpu). I think its is time to upgrade...I am looking at the 8800 gtx and ultra. Right now the ultra is on sale locally and is only $50 more then the gtx. I think it was something like 10% performance increase (not overclocked), should I go with the ultra? or is there something better coming out in the near future? (not that I have seen in searches).

Thanks for your time.

There is always something better coming out in the near future. You may want to relax for a couple of months and wait for the next gen cards, unless money is not an issue go with the Ultra.

guessing it's probably your processor..IF you do want to get a new gpu still..Wait..it's way too late into this gen to even think about the 8800. The g92 should be out around november.

Thats what I thought. But from a price point the ultra is not too bad looking now.

My CPU is a Am2 4600+. I thought the same about my video card, that it should be better =/

My little brothers computer which is a P4 3.0ghz, 1.5gb ddr2, and a 7600gt plays WoW on high settings with 50fps. I have a 8800gts and a Q6600@ 3.0ghz and can run at the highest settings at a constant 60fps(locked i think). I dont play WoW but my brother is obsessed. I would say check your internet connection speed. Also how much ram do you have? My brothers computer had a 7600gt with 512ram and saw a huge improvment with 1.5gb lol.

What kind of resolution are you running on your rig?

My old Athlon 64 3200, 2GB DDR-400, ATI - X800XL was able to keep a steady 60fps at 1280res with everything maxed out.
