I have a Toshiba P305D S8900 Satellite Laptop (Vista Home Premium 64bit). I did a system restore (to an earlier date) and it was taking forever and my screen had went black so I powered off. Wn I powered back on, it says that computer wasn't shut down properly and gives me options to start it in safe modes or regularly. Neither option works for me! It all takes me back to a black screen. After sitting there a while, a generic screen saver pops up. I don't remember ever receiving a recovery disk. HELP!

When you first got your laptop you would have been prompted to create a set of recovery disks (they are no longer provided) failure to do so leaves you where you are now.
Your only option now is to contact Toshiba and purchase a set of recovery disks from them, there are no freebies. You pay for postage and handling could be around $35-40.
